Pilates is a great low impact exercise to do when you’re pregnant. It is safe to practice during pregnancy, because it focuses on strengthening your core, back and pelvic floor muscles, which are the areas that can cause problems during pregnancy and after the birth.
Practicing Pilates on a regular basis can improve posture, alleviate back pain and ultimately help with labor and delivery. It will also boost your mood and energy levels.
Certain exercises and body positions will be modified from the second and third trimester and as you get closer to your due date.
Preggie Pilates classes are scheduled at a time that suits you and me best. These classes are basically personal training sessions between you and me. One of the great benefits of this service is that these classes are designed to work at your own pace and ability.
From the initial session, your individual needs will be assessed, your health history discussed, and your goals and objectives laid out. From there, an individual exercise program will be developed for you, for us to undertake in the classes going forward. Individual concerns that can be addressed may include posture, strength, flexibility, specific injuries or chronic conditions.
Make sure your obstetrician is aware that you are doing Pilates.
